Program ArSiVi

Hi,

So I watched Ghost in the Shell yesterday (it was the dubbed version on Netflix Watch Instantly). I found it very difficult to follow with large gaps between scenes and very little explanation of what path or direction any of the characters were following.
Aside from "Yay monotone boobies!" and "Cool an accidental machine intelligence" I really don't understand why people liked this movie. What did I miss? There were so many disjointed scenes with no lead-up or follow-up I thought I was watching a Sci-Fi Channel Original movie. (I'll give the acting a pass due to the dubbing). Is there a better version out there that makes more sense?

Please help.
